New What Are We Feeding Our Kids?

We can do better!

Hi friends,

I just returned from a sweet trip to Cape Cod with my grandkids. Nothing fills me up more than family time by the ocean! But I have to be honest—something really weighed on me while we were there.

Everywhere we went, the kids’ menus looked the same: fried chicken fingers with fries, pizza, mac & cheese, grilled cheese with fries. Over and over, the same pattern—fried food, refined carbs, and barely a vegetable in sight.

It’s no wonder childhood obesity rates are climbing. We’ve normalized this as “kid food,” but what we’re really doing is shaping taste buds early to crave only processed carbs and fried meals. We’re setting kids up for struggles with energy, focus, and weight that could follow them into adulthood. We certainly can order off the adult menu but often that is cost prohibitive.

This isn’t about shame—it’s about awareness. As parents, grandparents, and community members, we can do better by modeling healthy meals and making real food fun. Our kids deserve more than fries on repeat.

👩‍💼 Women’s Leadership Workshops in November
I’ll be co-facilitating a new series of Women’s Leadership workshops this November. These are all about stepping into your voice, leading with confidence, and creating community. Details coming soon, so keep your eyes out.

Final Thought:
If the kids’ menus in Cape Cod taught me anything, it’s that change starts with us. We can shape healthier traditions—one meal, one family, one community at a time.

To a healthy week!
